Airedale Antics

Tony and Sheri Phipps opened Airedale Antics in 1996, in what was originally an antique business. The store was originally named Airedale Antiques, a homage to Tony’s favorite dogs, the Airedale Terrier. It quickly became apparent that customers were coming in to see the dogs Susiebear and Sammybear more than the antiques.  They started selling Airedale trinkets and expanded to include other dog breed gifts. After adding locally-baked, wholesome dog treats to their line-up, a customer asked where they could buy all-natural dog food. That was all it took! Airedale Antiques became Airedale Antics. In 2007, an opportunity arose to move the shop from St. Charles to Maplewood, which was great given that the family lived right down the street in Maplewood on Flora Ave. Airedale Antics opened up its doors in March 2007 at its first location at 7328 Manchester, then moved to its larger location at 7316 Manchester in March 2009.

The shop sells a variety of all-natural foods, treats and other pet supplies for dogs, cats and even chickens. The term “all natural” means that the food have no fillers such as corn, wheat or soy, no by-products and no artificial colors or preservatives. The shop focuses on educating customers on good pet nutrition and how what the pet is fed can impact their overall health. Airedale Antics customers’ pets are thriving and report healthy vet check-ups. Sassy and Harry are today’s Airedale mascots and greet customers with a wag of the tail. Airedale Antics is also active in the local pet community and supports local rescues by hosting adoption events and donating to pet food pantries. The shop also partners each year with area rescues to host “Pet Fest”, a pet’s carnival held in the back barking lot behind the shop. They participate in “Taste of Maplewood” and “Let Them Eat Art” among other Maplewood events. The shop is open 7 days a week and has friendly staff to help all who come to shop. Tony and Sheri invite anyone in the St. Louis area to visit them, and bring their four-legged friends along! Go to their Facebook page for a list of Anniversary Events happening in the month of March or view them here.

Airedale Antics is located at 7316 Manchester Rd. and be found online at http://www.airedaleantics.com/.
